Audra McDonald's artistry is unmatched in the range and variety of her work as a vocalist, as well as an actor. That was a staggering total of three Tony Awards by the time she was 30. She won her fourth Tony in 2004 when she starred alongside Sean Diddy Combs in A Raisin in the Sun as well as in 2012. In 2012, she won five Tony Awards, and she was the first one in the category leading actress for her role in The Gershwins Porgy and Bess as the title role. She created Broadway the history books in 2014 as she was the most decorated Tony Award winner. Following her appearance with Kathy Bates, Victor Garber as well as others in the critically acclaimed ABC/Disney remake of Annie at the end of 1999 McDonald appeared as a recurring character in the NBC show Law & Order Special Victims Unit. Following her debut Emmy nomination due to her performance in the HBO film adaptation of the Pulitzer Prize winning play Wit produced by Mike Nichols and starring Emma Thompson McDonald returned on television network in 2003 on the political drama Mister Sterling, produced by Emmy Award winner Lawrence O'Donnell Jr. and featuring Josh Brolin. Then, in the year 2006, McDonald joined WB's The Bedford Diaries. The subsequent year, she was a recurring actor on NBC's Kidnapped. In the year 2016, McDonald was nominated to win a fourth Emmy Award due to her performance on HBO's Lady Day at Emerson's Bar and Grill, which was a film special. In 2021 she co-starred with Taylor Schilling and Steven Pasquale as part of The Bite, a pandemic drama produced in collaboration with Spectrum Originals and CBS Studios. Having first appeared as U.S. attorney Liz Lawrence in 2009 on CBS's civil drama The Good Wife in 2018 McDonald returned to her part (now named Liz Reddick) as a season regular of The Good Fight on Paramount+ with 3 Critics Choice Award nominations for her performance. She currently guest-stars in Julian Fellowes' historical drama The Gilded Age on HBO.
